4/26/2016 1 Comment The Trove Hi everyone!
The reality of having my own art studio/storefront is quickly becoming a reality! Many of you know what my vision is and that I have dreamt of this for quite a long time. For those of you who don't quite yet understand where I am trying to go, please let me explain: I'd like to open an art studio/boutique. My goal is to provide children and young adults with a safe and fun space in which they are allowed and encouraged to express themselves. I'd like to offer classes that are affordable (or better yet free!) and have an open area where everyone is given the support to be successful. Although there will be plenty of opportunities for all ages, one of my passions is helping the youth of our community to grow and expand their reach beyond our small town. This is why, along with other handmade artists, I would like to allow these young adults to sell their items in my storefront. Ideally, by allowing them to do so they will learn valuable life skills (such as responsibility, money management and relationship development) along with being able to generate a small income (college fund anyone?) that will allow them to get a step-up in our community. The storefront will also be a good way to show our youth that following your passion is worthwhile and to allow them to have visible role-models. It will also enable me to further support our community. I plan to feature a variety of artists (mostly local) in a wide range of fields. I hope that one day some of the artists will serve as mentors and positive role-models to our youth. I believe that by supporting our handmade artists, we are not only supporting our local economy but also stimulating a positive environment for our younger generations to grow up in. Ideally, it'll be an open floor plan with a couple large tables, a small kid-friendly area and a small storefront. If there's space I'll add a sectioned off area for my metalsmithing studio. Classes and activities will range anywhere from jewelry-making (that's my forte!) to yoga and everything in between. I would love to have open mic's, mini craft fairs and lots of open studio time. I believe that anything that makes a person engage their creativity and feel passionate is an art and that developing this in our community will only make us better as a whole. Right now, everything is moving very, very quickly. If you'd like to contribute anything at all (time, furnishings, displays, your handmade goods, your teaching expertise, anything helps!) or just like the idea of what I'm trying to do please let me know! Every kind word counts. This is all a little scary for me, I don't normally put myself out there like this. However, I know that in order to make this happen it'll take the support of my community behind me. Thank you! In short: A safe, creative space in our community for all ages to gather and grow together.

4/24/2016 0 Comments New changes coming! We are so excited to announce a few new changes that will be occurring here. As with any change, we want to let you know why we are doing this because although everything will take a little getting used to, we're doing it to benefit YOU!
1. Name change/rebranding: Say goodbye to "The Gypsy Trove" and hello to "The Trove Hawai'i", I know, not that big of a difference but to us it means a lot. The Gypsy Trove was chosen because it was the direction that I really thought my jewelry would go in, I had images of burgundies and deep turquoises, jingling coins and mysterious tones. However, as my style has progressed I've realized that that is not at all where I'm headed! I've come to develop my own style, one that is uncharacterized (I totally just made up that word) and wholly representative of myself and my take on life. I'm obsessed with the word "Trove", I imagine hoards of treasure and jewels. Imagine walking across a deserted beach and stumbling across a collection of gemstones, sparkly jewels, shells and shiny metals! 2. SHOP UPDATES PROCESSING TIMES & ORDERING: This one is uppercase because it is crazy important. I will no longer be doing custom orders. This goes along with made-to-order items. As many of you know, I am one person and I do all of the making, packing, ordering, financials, etc. There is only so much that I can do. As it is, I am eliminating customs and made-to-orders because they take so much time that I am unable to create new thing for you all to enjoy! Also, I want to support other artists-I don't want to spend my time trying to recreate something that someone else has already done, if you're looking for a custom just let me know and I'll point you in the direction of someone else who can help you! By eliminating custom and made-to-order items, I am going to be able to drop my turn-around time (which was about 2-4 weeks!) to 3-5 days (or less!). This to me is crazy, you'll get your items so much quicker. Items will be released bi-weekly (meaning every two weeks) in a mini update. Anything I've completed will be released in small quantities and limited sizing. It will be first come, first serve- I am no longer able to hold items on the side, etc. Unfortunately this was taken advantage of and for the future of this business it does not work out. But, by doing things this way, I can be sure that I never have to raise prices because I had to eat some of my profits. Which will definitely be better in the long run! 3. The reason for all these changes? (I can't believe I'm saying this!!!) A storefront/classroom is in the works. Once that all goes through, and I have to care for a physical location I am positive that I will need to have this company as efficient and streamlined as possible. I do not want to stop online orders at all, you all are what got me started and keep me going! But, I also do not want to sacrifice any of the customer service or individual attention that I have thus far given to orders and to every piece made! By doing these changes, we are giving ourselves room for growth. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU? Faster processing times, more unique one-of-a-kind pieces, better service and an overall more pleasant shopping experience.
